Stanford Primary School

Inclusion

The Department for Education (DfE) published a new Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEN/D) Code of Practice on 30th July 2014. It came into force from 1st September 2014, replacing the previous 2001 code. The new code reflects the changes introduced by the Children and Families Act 2014. All schools must have regard to what the code of practice says whenever decisions are taken relating to children with SEN/D.

Click on the following link to view our SEN/D Policy.

Local Authorities are now obliged to publish a Local Offer with information about the available provision and how to access it. The aim of this is to make provision more responsive to the needs of young children with SEN/D. Our school has contributed to this development. Please click here to be directed to our SEN/D Local Offer.

We have also put together an Information Report to outline what Stanford Infants can offer children with Special and/or Additional Needs and how our provision is organised and delivered. Please click here to view a copy of the Information Report 2026/27.

Schools are required to implement an Accessibility Plan which is aimed at:

  • Increasing the extent to which disabled pupils can participate in the curriculum.
  • Improving the physical environment of schools to enable pupils with disabilities to take better advantage of education, benefits, facilities and services provided.
  • Improving the availability of accessible information to pupils with disabilities.

Click here to view a copy of our Accessibility Plan for 2021-2024.

For more information, please contact our Inclusion Leader/ SENDCo, Roisin Doran via the School Office.

Welcome from the Inclusion Team

The inclusion team at Stanford Primary School is made up of our Inclusion Lead/ SENDco, Miss Doran, Learning Mentors, Mrs Prebble & Mrs Golton, and a number of individual needs assistants.

The team's remit is to work with children in school who need additional support to engage fully in school life. This includes children with special educational needs and disabilities, children with emotional needs, and those with English as an additional language.

Support may be needed for a short time or over their whole school experience. Robust assessment and clear communication are central to the identification of additional needs and in planning for appropriate provision. We recognise the central importance of partnership with you as parents and carers and the team will involve you fully in any decisions about your child.

The team benefits from the advice and support of a range of external agencies and is constantly seeking to develop knowledge and expertise in supporting children with a wide range of needs.

Members of the team are always available and happy to talk.

If you have any concerns about your child, please telephone or email Miss Doran via the school office.
